Working Principle

The SIT1602BCB7-XXS is based on a voltage-controlled crystal oscillator (VCXO) and operates on an “RC (Resistors and Capacitors) mesh-type voltage controlled oscillator” principle. This includes an adjustable resistor and 3 capacitors (C1, C2, and C3) to form a mesh network as shown below. The resistor is adjusted to adjust the resonance of the oscillator and the capacitor values are chosen to set the oscillator frequency and phase noise.

VCXO Oscilator Working Principle

The frequency and phase noise of the oscillator is set by controlling the resistor and capacitor values. The oscillator is designed to have a wide operating range and to provide excellent noise performance. The overall accuracy is also very good as the oscillator is designed with calibration curves and compensation coils.
