Programmable OscillatorsA programmable oscillator is an electronic device that generates repetitive pulses or other signal forms and can be externally programmed to change the signal\'s parameters. This type of oscillator can be used or adjusted to meet a specific requirement or application, such as frequency, duty cycle, rise and fall time, amplitude, and phase.The SIT8008BCL2-33N is an example of a programmable oscillator and is designed to support almost any frequency application. It is important to note that the SIT8008BCL2-33N programmable oscillator is not only limited to applications within the Radio Frequency (RF) domain, but it can also be used in a number of other applications such as using code division multiple access (CDMA) technology.The SIT8008BCL2-33N consists of two parts; the first part is a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) and the second is an adjustable frequency divider. The VCO produces an output signal with a frequency range from 100 kHz to 6.5 GHz. The frequency divider provides the ability to divide the output frequency by an integer, ranging from 1 to 2610. The SIT8008BCL2-33N is mounted in a dual-in-line package (DIP) and is housed in a plastic housing.The programmable oscillator can also be used in applications where linearity and frequency agility are important, such as direct sequence spread spectrum (DSSS) systems, radar systems, and telecommunications systems. The SIT8008BCL2-33N has the ability to generate output signals with various frequency offsets, which can aid in the implementation of frequency hopping systems.The working principle of the SIT8008BCL2-33N is based on the voltage-controlled oscillator, or VCO. The VCO consists of an amplifier, an oscillator stage, and a frequency divider. The amplifier and oscillator stages produce a signal that is fed into a frequency divider and then back to the input of the amplifier. The frequency divider is adjustable and thus provides the ability to adjust the output frequency.The external components of the SIT8008BCL2-33N include a crystal oscillator, decoupling capacitors, and bias resistors. The crystal oscillator is a quartz crystal that generates a stable frequency which serves as the reference frequency used by the oscillator. The decoupling capacitors decouple any external noise sources from the oscillator and the bias resistors are used to set the working frequency.The SIT8008BCL2-33N has a wide range of applications and uses an adjustable frequency divider that allows it to generate frequencies ranging from 100 kHz to 6.5 GHz.
