This ac voltage is used to supply the acceleration needed to move the MEMs actuator. The actuator is normally in the rest position, and when it’s energized, it moves in the direction of the applied magnetic field and changes the inductance of the MEMs’ cavity. This change in inductance is sensed by the oscillator’s circuit, which produces an output frequency that is proportional to the electric field strength. The MEMs technology allows for easy configuration and fast frequency switching.
