Working Principle

Behind the SIT9005ACT2H-33SH Programmable Oscillator lies a complex mix of semiconductor components, comprising 3 chips – a PLL (phase-locked loop) chip, a frequency synthesizer chip and a temperature compensation logic circuit. The output frequency is controlled by two external controls, one being an external frequency synthesizer and the other being a 40-bit programmable logic control. An internal voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) is used to produce a 50MHz clock signal. This signal is then divided by a divider and its output is used as an input to the PLL chip. The PLL chip then compares the phase of the divided signal with the output of the external frequency synthesizer, and an error voltage is fed back to the VCO, thus adjusting the output frequency. The temperature compensation logic circuit adjusts the output frequency according to the environmental temperature, making it ideal for use in temperature-sensitive applications.
