Working Principle

The SLA7077MR works by taking a 12V-24V supply voltage and converting it into two output voltages of either 4.5V-19V or -4.5V-19V. These two outputs control the two half-bridges, one of which drives the Hall effect sensors, while the other half-bridge drives the motor. The input ripple rejection and output short-circuit protection are both managed internally by the integrated motor controller. The motor control is achieved with an adjustable open-loop current gain and pulse-width modulation (PWM) to provide dynamic field-oriented control of brushless motors.

The SLA7077MR also provides a servo freewheeling option, whereby the input voltage is used to turn the motor in both forward and backward direction, efficiently driving the motor with greater accuracy. Finally, a wide range of protection mechanisms are also included, such as undervoltage protection, thermal protection, and overcurrent protection.
