SLG2016 is a LED display module developed by Photon Detector Inc. It is a small LED dot matrix with 6 pins for power and data connection, plus a 3-pin cluster for easy wiring. It is designed for indoor and outdoor applications in a wide variety of scenarios. It is also ideal for use in limited space applications due to its small size.
The SLG2016 dot matrix display module consists of 6 individual LEDs per row with 3 columns. Each LED has its own current and voltage characteristics which are restricted by a 3 terminal resistor. The resistor determines the maximum power of the LED, allowing each LED to be operating at its safe level. The LED voltage stays constant while the LED current is adjusted to match the LED brightness levels.
The working principle of the SLG2016 is very simple. A microcontroller, such as an 8051, generates a pulse width modulated (PWM) signal, which is connected to the resistor of each LED.
