SLWRB4151A is a microwave printed circuit board (PCB) evaluation development kit from Silvertel. This kit is developed for a wide range of applications including LTE Cat 4/LTE-A, CDMA/UMTS, 802.11ac and Wi-Fi. The kit provides a reliable platform to evaluate beamforming, Transmit/Receive (Tx/Rx) gain/loss and antennas. The kit also provides a high-sensitivity receiver optimized for signal analysis.
The SLWRB4151A consists of a main board and an expansion daughter board which includes all the necessary RF components. The main board includes antenna connectors, USB connectors, broadband amplifier, switches, and other analog components. A daughter board also includes three high-power RF amplifier, two of which are for Tx/Rx tests and the other for a directional antenna measure. The kit also includes two 50 ohm termination connectors - one for a Tx/Rx antenna connection and the other for a transmit antenna connection.
The SLWRB4151A works on the principles of gain/loss of radio waves and antennas. This device utilizes a two-way methodology for tests and measurements. This includes transmitting RF signal from the main board to the device it is measuring and then receiving the RF signal from the device and measuring its gain/loss. The evaluation development kit can perform a range of measurements, including angle of arrival, axial ratio, gains, input impedance, noise figure, and Transmit/Receive isolation.
This evaluation development kit also implements echo cancellation. Echo cancellation is an important concept in radio frequency measurements. It helps keep unwanted signal reflections from interfering with measurements. The SLWRB4151A uses the same RF channels for both transmission and reception, meaning that any signal that is received is a result of direct transmission only, eliminating reflections from other components or sources.
As a result, engineers can measure and characterize radio frequencies without the risk of reflections from other components. This device also includes a wide range of customizable features such as adjustable gain, selectable frequency, amplifier on/off states, and feedback control. With the help of these features, engineers can accurately analyze and evaluate RF designs.
