The second format is the radial package (SM0805HCL-R), which is available in a 2.5mm pitch “slice of pizza” that allows for entirely radial or axial orientation of the LED.

The SM0805HCL series can be powered with both conventional bipolar power supply systems as well as switching power supply systems. In terms of operation, these LED devices feature a fast switching on/off time, can be controlled with up to 255 levels of brightness, and can be dimmed by both PWM and analog control. Furthermore, these LEDs feature excellent long-term stability, intrinsic ESD protection and are highly resistant to harmful environmental conditions such as temperature fluctuations and moisture.

From an application perspective, the SM0805HCL series of LEDs are commonly used for indication and visual communication in a wide range of applications. This includes home and commercial electronic equipment, automotive interior and exterior lighting, electronic gaming and amusement machines, industrial control panels and indicators, mobile phones, computers and so on. These devices are also suitable for use in applications such as light switches, window displays, night lights, and other product applications that require a discrete level of illumination.
