The SM840021KA is part of SupperMeco’s family of clock generators, PLLs and frequency synthesizers. Working Principle
The SM840021KA uses a Phase Locked Loop (PLL) to generate accurate and stable clock frequencies. The PLL works by comparing the input reference frequency to that of the device a predetermined ratio in order to generate an output frequency. When the reference and device frequencies are in-sync, the output frequency is the same as the input frequency. If the input frequency changes, the output frequency will also change in order to achieve the same ratio.
The SM840021KA has a wide range of adjustable frequency settings, allowing for a variety of different applications. The device also comes with an integrated differential Low-Pass Filter (LPF) to provide greater accuracy and reduce spurious outputs caused by unwanted frequency components outside the PLL’s bandwidth.
The device also includes a Spread Spectrum tolerance feature to minimize harmonic components and reduce EMI. With a reference clock frequency of up to 150MHz and adjustable frequency range of 10MHz to 150MHz, the device can be used in applications such as Ethernet, audio and video systems.
In addition to its excellent frequency generation performance, the SM840021KA also offers two output disable options; either a pin control input or programmable logic Pins.
