SMA6F16A-M3/6A is one type of transient voltage suppression (TVS) diode specifically designed for multi-function transient voltage protection. TVS Diode, as the main product of transient voltage protection, is widely used in many areas of human life where a stable pressure is necessary, especially in electrical field and electronics industry.SMA6F16A-M3/6A, as one type of TVS Diode, is a low capacitance dual common-cathode diode in a miniature Module-3+ Mini-6A package. It has an excellent ESD protection, and can protect overvoltage caused by ESD (Electro-Static Discharge), CDE (Cable Discharge Event) or other transient overvoltage. It has a wide operating temperature range from -45°C to 150°C and a low capacitance up to 0.1pF.The working principle of SMA6F16A-M3/6A lies in the diode junction of its ESD structure. During negative voltage transient, one of the two switched diodes is turned on due to the built-in potential. When the voltage exceeds the avalanche breakdown voltage of the diode, it will be quickly and effectively triggered, and the reverse voltage will be stopped. Under the overvoltage clamp action, accidental breakdown of circuit components can be avoided. Besides, when the voltage returns to normal, the diode will not be turned on, and then the RC circuit (resistance and capacitance) will provide a definite circuit reset time, so that it could reset quickly and comfortably to the original state.SMA6F16A-M3/6A is extensively applied in telecommunications, data centers, test and measurement equipments, medical equipments, consumer electronic devices and other related fields. It is highly recommended to use in signal line of USB, high-speed signal line such as HDMI, DVI, or other I/O ports in order to get maximum performance. Its extremely low capacitance, fast reaction time and large peak pulse power capability can provide superior protection against Electro-Static Discharge (ESD), Cable Discharge Events (CDE), surge and other overvoltage transients.
