The SMA6J70CA-TR is a member of a family of unidirectional TVS (transient voltage suppressor) diodes designed to protect equipment, systems and components from lightning and power surges. In the event of an over-voltage event, the device will be rapidly switched from an open to a short circuit, creating a low-impedance path for the over-voltage current and dissipating it in the form of heat.
The SMA6J70CA-TR is designed for low capacitance and provides a low series resistance. Its low capacitance and low resistance design allow it to respond quickly to transients and absorb large amounts of power without affecting the performance of the protected circuit.
