TVS (Transient Voltage Suppressors) diodes are a type of voltage protection device which can be used to protect connected components from an excess of electrical energy. The SMCJ160C is a transient voltage suppressor diode which offers superior protection and reliability for vital electronics. Once connected, the SMCJ160C will be constantly monitoring the voltage that the component is exposed to. When it detects a voltage spike above its stand-off voltage, the SMCJ160C will activate and quickly clamp the voltage at its own breakdown voltage. The SMCJ160C also has excellent protection from ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) as it can withstand up to ±8kV of HBM (Human Body Model) ESD discharge.
