The SMCJ20CA-13 is a bidirectional, low capacitance surface-mount Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) diode that is designed to protect voltage-sensitive components from high-energy surge pulses. This TVS diode has an operating voltage range of 15.3 V to 20 V, and a maximum power dissipation rating of 350 mW at 25° C. It is constructed of a glass-encapsulated thyristor structure, and has an Excellent clamping capability at very high peak current waveform. This device also offers high surge capabilities with low capacitance and fast response time. SMCJ20CA-13 is available in two different packages: in a Lead-free SOD-323 package and in a Lead-free Unsawn SMC package.

The SMCJ20CA-13 TVS diode works by preventing transients (electrical pulses caused by events such as lightning, static electricity, or electrodes from high-energy sources) from passing through a circuit.
