The SMCJ85 series of unidirectional and bidirectional Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) Diodes are among the highest performance Surge Protection eevices (SPDs) available today. They are designed to protect sensitive electronics from damaging voltage transients generated by inductive switching, load dump or long duration power surges. These transistors are capable of clamping transient voltage up to 1500 W peak pulse power dissipation.

The SMCJ85 family of transistors has wide and diverse applications in various electronics systems including computers, automotive equipment, industrial control systems, and data logging systems. In any of these systems, the SMCJ85 can be applied at the critical points in the electrical circuit to provide protection from any damaging overvoltage transients.

The SMCJ85 series of transistors operates over a wide temperature range of -55°C to +175°C. It has an operating voltage range of 33V, and a Peak Pulse Power rating of 1500W.
