PTC resettable fuses, also known as polymeric positive temperature coefficient (PPTC) resettable fuses, are electrical devices designed to help protect against electrical faults and to significantly reduce the destructiveness of these faults. SMD075F-2 is one of the most commonly used PTC resettable fuse. It is widely used in applications requiring over-current protection (OCP) and access to firmly connected resources
Application Field
SMD075F-2 can be used in different kind of electronic equipment to provide OCP, now it is becoming the basic protection component of modern electronic equipment, include medical equipments, power switches, audio equipments, communication equipments, industrial equipments, automotive equipments and so on. For example, it can be used in laptop and cell phone main power line to protect the internal components from burning out, it can also be used in the charging circuit of large electric vehicle battery.
Working Principle
SMD075F-2 is a temperature responsive polymeric PTC device, which means its resistance is proportional to the temperature, when the temperature rises so the resistance will also raise, which help to stabilize the current. The device will be self-resetting automatically when the temperature reduce. With this technology, its ability to withstand thermal shock, short circuit, residual voltage and other electrical anomalies far exceed those of standard fuses.
SMD075F-2 has two lead-free anodic pins for electrical connection, its maximum operating temperature is 155 Celsius, and its minimum operating temperature is 20 Celsius, when the surrounding temperature reach or exceed 155 degrees Celsius, its resistance will increase rapidly and act as an insulator, and open the circuit, this helps protect the circuit from overload or short circuit. Then as the temperature reduce, the resistance will gradually reduce and close the circuit again.
