Evaluation and Demonstration Boards and Kits are useful tools for designers, engineers and scientists to evaluate and prototype any given circuit or component. The SMI7120/7130EVK is a particularly useful evaluation board, the use of which is rapidly becoming widespread in the industry.

The SMI7120/7130EVK is a complete evaluation board for the Analog movement and position device. It combines an Analog Devices AD7120/7130 with multiple external components which to enable an easy-to-use and complete evaluation environment for the AD7120/7130. It allows the user to quickly and easily configure, calibrate and evaluate the performance of the Analog movement and position sensor. The SMI7120/7130EVK operates at a voltage range of 2.5V to 5.5V, and comes with an on-board low-noise oscillator crystal for precision measurement. The board is also designed with an on-board I2C interface and two USB ports. It supports two analog inputs, one for the X-axis and one for the Y-axis. The SMI7120/7130EVK also supports the USB-I2C protocol, allowing users to communicate with devices via a USB connection.

The AD7120/7130 embedded on the SMI7120/7130EVK is used for Analog movement and position sensing and offers excellent temporal precision with very low power consumption. This device is an ideal sensor for motion control applications such as medical, robotics, and the Internet of Things (IoT). It measures the angular displacement or tilt of a device relative to an outer reference point using two analog inputs. The AD7120/7130 combines four hall effect devices, two representing the movement of each axis, operated in a differential output configuration. The outputs are combined into differential analog outputs and then digitised using an on-board analog-to-digital converter (ADC).

This evaluation board can be used to test and compare the performance of the AD7120/7130 against other sensors and sensors designs. This evaluation board also contains software features such as an Autocalibration Wizard, Digital Filter programming, SPI Registers Programming, Data Acquisition and UART Programmable settings. Using these tools, engineers can tune the system to meet specific requirements as needed for their particular application.

In addition to measuring motion and position, the SMI7120/7130EVK can also be used to measure temperature, humidity, and pressure. It can be used to test multiple devices such as infrared, ultrasonic, and acoustic sensors for a variety of applications such as industrial automation, medical devices and consumer electronics. The evaluation board can also be used to measure and monitor the environment in home automation, industrial monitoring, and data collection applications.

The SMI7120/7130EVK is capable of providing precise, accurate, real-time measurements of a variety of conditions and applications.
