SMVM08100 Application Field and Working Principle

The SMVM08100 series is a terminal block from the Wire to Board range designed to provide a reliable connection between electric wire and essential regulatory board components in a variety of electrical applications.

The SMVM08100 series is suitable for a wide range of application fields in the electrical engineering and electronic industries. The sizes of the SMVM08100 series blocks range from 0.5mm to 8mm. With a width of 2.5mm, this series has wide contact fingers and excellent contacts for making reliable and efficient electrical connections. With a height range of 5.1mm to 16.9mm, they are designed with an innovative housing shape to maximize and optimize their space usage. Each is also provided with ergonomic grip features for comfortable and safe handling.

Working Principle

The SMVM08100 series is designed to ensure a secure, efficient and reliable connection between electrical wires and boards components. The series is two-piece snap flat design, which comprises of a spring-loaded main body and the contact element. When two contact elements are snapped together by pressing in the same direction, the contact blade of the contact element and the spring of the body part engage to create an insulated connection, with the parts finger-proof to a rated current range between 0.5A to 10A.

Each SMVM08100 series block features a soldered contact design, consisting of contact blade, retainer, and spacer. The retainer ensures that during PCB assembly the contact blade is prevented from shifting due to z-axis motion. The spacer isolates debris that may form in the pitch region due to soldering. The double contact points provide an electrical connection, with the insulated separation able to bear a rated voltage of 300V according to standard IEC 61 986.
