It is part of the RS-485 and RS-422 protocol family, and supports the following applications: serial communication data rates up to 1Mbps, point to point data links, multi-drop bus networks, remote sensing and monitoring, and distance-sensitive transmission.The SN65C3243PWG4 provides two differential drivers and two differential receivers with level-shifting capability. The drivers are designed to drive the bus in either direction, allowing the signal to be passed or looped back for transmission, depending on the status of the level-shifting circuitry. The receivers detect differential signals, isolate them from their inputs, and provide logic levels to indicate the presence of signal. The SN65C3243PWG4 also has two pin-selectable direction control inputs that allow the device to be configured in either the forward/reverse or loopback mode.The SN65C3243PWG4 operates over a wide voltage range of 3.0V to 5.5V and dissipates a maximum of 11mW at 5V.
