Interface-Drivers, Receivers, Transceivers are essential components used to interconnect various systems peacefully without any compatibility issues. SN65LVDS2DR is one such driver which is used to provide the interface between two devices. It helps in interfacing two devices across to large distance and resolve compatibility issues across devices.

The SN65LVDS2DR chip is a Type I Single Transmitter for Low Voltage Differential Signaling (LVDS) applications. It provides a single differential pair transceiver for digital communication applications over short distances. The chip has two input buses of differential data, one corresponding to each differential data pair. The two buses are default latched low and will behave as logic 1s if its respective control logic is high. The components have a wide operating voltage of 4.5 to 5.5V DC and a high common mode range of 3.5 to 6.5V DC minus system ground.

The SN65LVDS2DR chip ensures excellent common mode noise rejection, EMI rejection and low power consumption. The device can handle data rates of up to 200 Mbps. A key feature to consider while designing with the chip is that, a pull up resistor shall be connected across both the Receiver and Transmitter outputs to ensure proper operation, as the output is either open-drain or tristate. The chip also secures low electromagnetic radiation, making it suitable for multiple applications.

What makes the SN65LVDS2DR more feasible and optimum compared to other similar chips, is its ability to transfer data over large distances, several meters in contrast to a single meter transferred with other chips. For unidirectional data transfer, the transmitting systems provide single-ended signals, while the receiving systems have differential inputs. Connecting both the system with a differential pair of wires provide robust data transfer with good noise and interference immunity.
