SN65LVCP1414EVM is designed for the RS-422/RS-485 physical layer in systems requiring balanced line driver applications. It is suitable for use in read/write control systems, such as industrial automation, medical, motor control, and telecommunications. It has an adjustable slew rate that provides the capability to optimize the design from the bus loading perspective. The SN65LVCP1414EVM provides the proper electrical interface for testing the SN65LVCP1414 devices, generating five preset or user-defined parametric signals to reduce development time.
From the point of view of working principle, the SN65LVCP1414EVM is connected with the respective terminals of the SN65LVCP1414IC device. The device is powered by the supply voltage ranging from 3 Vdc to 15 Vdc. The SN65LVCP1414EVM then applies an adjustable slew rate transient signal from the 5 preset or customized user-defined parametric waveforms including 10MHz, 16MHz, 20MHz, 30MHz, and 40MHz transmission rates. The signal is then transmitted through the device RS-422/RS-485 physical layer with driver output levels referenced to the external power supply.
USB and parallel ports are also present to enable communication with a PC-hosted software environment for these parameters of the signal to be adjusted for optimal signal transfer. The SN65LVCP1414EVM also allows software control of test classes, making device characterization easier; and real-time display of the device\'s transmission rate, command latency, and data transmission rate.
The software running on the computer will display 10μsec waveforms that allow graphical measurement of drivel performance parameters. Signals used for testing are generated with user-defined algorithms, time sequences, and data files. Additionally, the computer-connected software, supporting industry-standard Microsoft WindowsR operating systems, can be used to adjust the SN65LVCP1414EVM parameters and save test results.
