Evaluation and Demonstration Boards and Kits

The SN65LVDS31–33EVM is an evaluation and demonstration board and kit and is based on the SN65LVDS31 and SN65LVDS33 low voltage differential signal (LVDS) transceivers. These transceivers feature a high data rate (1/3 of the DDR/SSTL2 standard) and are suitable for point-to-point communication links up to 155 MBd over controlled impedance media such as backplanes. These transceivers are ideal for use in high-speed serial links where the baseband bandwidth of the transmitted signal is limited.

Applications

Working Principle

The SN65LVDS31–33EVM board is based on the SN65LVDS31 and SN65LVDS33 transceivers. These transceivers convert the single ended signals to low voltage differential signals and vice versa. They also feature a differential PECL output and an open-drain output. A differential PECL output offers significantly improved noise immunity over single-ended circuitry, and the open-drain output enables the transceiver to drive two twisted pairs. The board offers an adjustable output voltage range of 0.8 V to 1.2 V and has a maximum frequency of 155.5 MBd while maintaining the specified data rate. The board also features two sets of impedance matching between the LVDS drivers and receivers, which eliminates the need for external matching components.
