The SN65LVDS387EVM board consists of Single-channel Low-voltage Differential Signaling (LVDS) Receiver. The device works on a voltage range from 2.375V to 3.6V. In these methods, two signals are sent in opposite phase allowing the receiver to calculate the difference. A differential amplifier then generates an output voltage equal to the difference in the two inputs.

The data rate of communication is measured by bit error rate (BER) testing. BER testing verifies how well data is transmitted in terms of accuracy and reliability. SN65LVDS387EVM enables BER testing to measure and compare the results of data rate while passing data between two devices over LVDS links. This is done by setting the output voltage and observing at the receiver end.

SN65LVDS387EVM consists of PCB measuring 91mm by 61mm, which provides two connectors for easy connection to a host device. The two connectors used are J1 and J2. The transmitter side has the connector marked as J1 and the receiver side is marked as J2. The interface pins that connect the two ICs on the board have to be connected in order for the system to operate. Additionally, an external reference clock needs to be provided on the board.

The SN65LVDS387EVM is powered by 3.3V supply voltage that is provided to both transmitter and receiver side, where the voltage can also be adjusted from 2.375V to 3.6V.
