SN7497NG4 Application Field and Working Principle

The SN7497NG4 is part of Texas Instruments\' family of logic circuits designed to meet the requirements of logic manufacturers in various applications. This a specialized type of logic known as Specialty Logic. The SN7497NG4 is a 4-bit synchronous decoder, ideal for implementations where reliable decoding of binary signals to a single output line is needed.

A decoder is a combinational logic circuit which accepts one or more binary words as inputs, and translates that binary information into one single output line. The SN7497NG4 uses four active-low data inputs and a single active-low and active-high enable input to control a single output line, allowing for a wide range of bit combinations to be decoded. The SN7497NG4 also features a latch-up immunity feature, which protects the circuit from potential unwanted noise.
