To complement the inverted output, each latch also produces a “normal” output (Q0#, Q1#, Q2#, and Q3#). This output is used to verify the output state of the shift register.The inputs of each latch consist of a data (D0, D1, D2, and D3) input and clock (Clk 0, Clk 1, Clk 2, and Clk 3) input. As the data is shifted from left to right, the clock signal must be provided to each latch, thus storing the data from the data input of the latch.The fourth latch of the SN74ALS577ANSR has a separate data input (D4) and clock input (Clk4). As previously stated, valid data must enter the first latch (D0) to start the cycle.
