SN74GTL1655DGGR is a high performance, logic-level translating, 16-bit-wide dual-supply bus switch that supports 1.6V-1.95V logic levels and processor I/O as well as 3.3V logic and processor I/O. It is an ideal solution for a wide range of applications from consumer electronics to industrial automation and transportation.This device can switch two SRAMs, or a single SRAM with a microprocessor that requires voltage-level translation. It features low ON resistance that allows signals to be routed without increasing power consumption or noise. It also has a low OFF capacitance that prevents glitching during switching transitions. This device is rated for 2.5V and 5V tolerant signal and is compatible with many device packages.The SN74GTL1655DGGR provides an easy-to-implement solution for 3-state control of signal lines. The three-state control enables the designer to simultaneously load readable data and generate writable data. In addition, the device has an integrated bus-holding circuit that maintains data values on the bus and prevents floating inputs. This device also offers flexible latched and non-latched strobe inputs to control data transfer.Working PrincipleThe SN74GTL1655DGGR operates in two basic modes: data routing and data latching. In data routing mode, the SN74GTL1655DGGR allows two devices, such as SRAMs, to communicate with one another. The transfer of data is based on the logic level of the device’s input, either Low or High. When the logic level at the input terminal is Low, the SN74GTL1655DGGR routes the signal from the input to the output. When the logic level at the output terminal is High, the signal will be routed to the output terminal, allowing a data transmission to occur.In the data latching mode, the device stores the data from the input, and the output is determined by the current logic level of the device.
