The SN74HC165NSRG4 can take data in and output data out in a single clock cycle, making it an ideal device for high speed applications.When the Clock Pin (CLK) is taken low, the data stored in the shift register is shifted out of the register, with each bit shifting out through the Serial Data pin (DS), starting with bit 0. At the same time, the new data is loaded into each shift register stage, one bit at a time, starting with the bit 0, and is shifted in through the Serial Data pin. After 8 clock cycles, the register is loaded with the 8, 8-bit data words that were presented to the shift register. The data can now be accessed from the outputs (Q0 to Q7).The clear pin (CLR) is used for resetting the register. When the CLR pin is taken LOW, all the outputs of the register will go LOW, regardless of the logic levels on the Data Input pin (DS) and the Clock pin (CLK).Additionally, the Enable pin (EN) allows the Shift Register to be enabled or disabled. If the Enable pin is LOW, all the outputs will be tri-stated (independent of the logic levels on the Data Input pin and the Clock pin).
