The SN74HC374N is a dual,edge-triggered, inverting 8-bit D Type Flip-Flop with Schmitt triggers and clocked inputs.It is mainly used for synchronizing, shifting and storing data in digital logic and microcontrollers. The SN74HC374N, like other logic flip-flops, is an integrated circuit constructed out of logic gates which can be used as a data storage and/or as an interface between two digital circuits.It is widely used in electronic systems to store one bit of data and has two main applications in digital systems – synchronizing data and storage of data.

Working Principle:

The SN74HC374N integrates the latest CMOS technology with TTL compatible levels and is used to store one bit of data.At the basic level, a flip-flop is an electronic circuit that has two stable states, which are referred to as 0 and 1. The SN74HC374N can be used in both SR and D flip-flop applications. The SN74HC374N is able to latch data by using the rising or falling edge of the clock signal. The SN74HC374N operates through clocked inputs. The clock inputs are sensitive to the rising or falling edge of the clock signal in order to latch the data. When the clock signal rises or falls, the SN74HC374N changes its output state, depending on its input state. There are two inputs and two outputs associated with the SN74HC374N, which are referred to as the data input (D), clock input (C), output (Q) and inverse output (~Q).
