Working Principle
The SN74LV540APW contains eight open drain outputs that can be used as a line driver and as a buffer. The 8 output buffers are controlled by three address lines A0, A1 and A2. In this chip, the address lines operate in pairs. The high logic levels on A1 and A2 will switch on the first four outputs OUT1-OUT4 while the low levels of A1 and A2 enable the second four outputs OUT5-OUT8. The SN74LV540APW has a single enable input (/OE) that can used to enable or disable all outputs. If the enable signal is high, all buffers will be enabled. If the enable signal is low, all buffers will be disabled and go into the high-impedance state.
