The SN74LV8153NG4 is a octal dual-supply bus transceiver from Texas Instruments. It is low-power, rad-hard, 5V tolerant, multi-volt CMOS logic device implemented in slim 38-lead CQCCN compact quad flat-pack (CQFP) packages. It provides two independent two-channel bidirectional buses which more than doubles the I/O coverage from current 24 to 48 pins. Each of the two buses requires one select pin, making the transceiver support both broadside and flying bus applications, thus eliminating the need for a second part for certain applications.
The SN74LV8153NG4 supports both bus connected and bus floating enable schemes. It belongs to the Logic - Shift Registers family, using logic and shift register functions to enable data to be transferred from register to register. This is done using flip-flops which have their own information-storage compartments. The device can store only one bit of information at a time, so if several bits of information need to be handled, several registers have to be used. With it, data can be manipulated and shifted to various locations in memory.
The SN74LV8153NG4 has five possible application fields like register transfer function, microwire bus and similar bus, wide bus interface, analog multiplexer and switching applications and for bus-sizing applications. Any two-terminal device like transistor logic (TL), metal-oxide semiconductor logic (MOS), and complementary metal-oxide semiconductor logic (CMOS) can be connected to the output pins.
The SN74LV8153NG4 supports direct LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) driving and it enables easy implementation of interface between the controller and the LCD display. In addition, it includes many features like undervoltage lockout with independent enable/disable control, hot insertion/removal support, internal ESD protection, control pins level translation for embracing different voltage domains and a logic-level-independent data retention scheme allowing lower speed and low-supply operations.
