Data retention is ensured, even if one or more of the power supplies is turned off. The SN74LVC2244ADBQR supports current-limiting termination resistors of 50 Ω to VCC, making it suitable for driving multiplexed applications.
The SN74LVC2244ADBQR is composed of 6 open drain output ports, each with a 3-state feature controlled by its own 3-state enable input. This 3-state enable input takes the form of an active low enable, which means it should be set low to enable the output, and high to disable it. This enables the output to be tristated or neutral which allows another bus master to take control of the bus line.
The active-low enable inputs also can be connected to external logic circuitry, so that the driver/receivers can be enabled or disabled in a larger system environment. The outputs, however, are not rail-to-rail; the device is specified to support outputs from 0.1 V to VCC, with the output remaining off if the enable is high. The devices support a wide range of current-limiting termination resistors, up to 50 Ω. This makes them ideal for driving multiplexed applications.
The SN74LVC2244ADBQR also includes two configurable power-supply pins. These pins are adjacent to the input and output pins, allowing for a selection for either the +1.65 V to +3.6 V or the +2.5 V to +5.5 V operating voltage range. This feature allows customers to leverage the cost and energy efficiency benefits of the wide range of supply voltages, while providing the compatibility of the familiar logic-level compatible operating voltage.
