The SN75ALS163DWE4 (formerly the TCA75ALS161DWE4) is an octal buffer/driver/receiver family with 3-V to 5.5-V VCC operating range, designed to provide high noise immunity and wide bandwidth while driving high capacitive loads. The family has eight bidirectional, three-state buffers/drivers that are designed for applications requiring high-bandwidth outputs. This family of parts was specifically designed to eliminate the need for termination resistors in applications where large amounts of data are shifted between multiple components over a parallel bus.

The SN75ALS163DWE4 are compatible with both TTL and CMOS logic levels and have a variable threshold that allows for flexibility between both logic families. A wide bus I/O capability allows for higher output current as well as increased high-speed switching. There are two active-low three-state outputs that enable sharing of data busses between multiple devices, while a fast propagation delay allows for quick data transfer.

The SN75ALS163DWE4 is an octal buffer/driver/receiver device that provides high noise immunity and wide bandwidth when driving high capacitive loads in applications such as logic-level translation, bus sharing, and bus fanout. The device is designed to meet a wide range of applications and provides excellent noise immunity and high-speed, low-power performance. The SN75ALS163DWE4 features configurable logic levels that allow for interfacing between different logic families and low output-enable leakage current.

The SN75ALS163DWE4 device\'s working principle is based on the three-state buffer concept. It is composed of 8 identical buffer cells. Each cell has the ability to connect an output pin to an input pin, disconnect both input and output pins from each other, or disconnect output from input and set the output pin to a high-impedance state. Inactive cells are forced into high-impedance state when the output enable (OE) pin is low. An active cell will connect an input pin to an output if the output enable (OE) pin is high. The data pins are bi-directional, allowing the SN75ALS163DWE4 device to operate as both a driver and receiver.
