In the Control application, it is used to transfer control signals between two systems. In the Data application, it is used to transfer data between systems. In the Digital Audio application, it is used to transfer audio data between systems.The SN75ALS175N can also be used to implement a programmable logic device, known as a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). FPGAs are used in many embedded systems to provide an efficient design process.The SN75ALS175N is also used in high speed data communication over short distances. It is used to multi-drop a data stream from one system to multiple systems.The SN75ALS175N operates using a multiplexed signal timing protocol. It has four signal lines which are used for data current incoming and outgoing, address synchronization, and signal handshaking. The data lines carry Data Input and Data Output. The address synchronization line keeps track of the address of the data being transferred, and the signal handshaking line allows the SN75ALS175N to signal the completion of a successful data transaction. The SN75ALS175N uses a three-state control line to enable communication between multiple systems. When the control line is set to Logic-1, the device is in a transmitting state, allowing data exchange between systems. When the control line is set to Logic-0, the device is in a receiving state, allowing data exchange between systems. When the control line is in a high impedance state, the device is inactive allowing no data exchange. The SN75ALS175N also features various control registers that can be used to control the operation of the device.
