The SN75ALS194N is a quad, bidirectional bus transceiver designed for multipoint data transmission in digital systems. It is a low-power device and is intended to be used with multiplexed busses. The device can very efficiently transmit from one to four bits at the same time by taking data from the data inputs (DI) on one side, and then outputting them at the outputs (Y) on the other side (as well as the opposite direction).

Direction control is performed by two separate two-line-to-four-line decoders and dual three-state bus buffers, which are connected to one another and are activated by an external logic control signal. When the logic control signal goes LOW, the four circuits operate in the opposite direction. The logic control signal is also used to enable and disable the outputs, effectively placing them in a HIGH-IMPEDANCE state, where they will not affect the transmission of data between buses.

The device is composed of two PC boards that have been individually designed to carry the device\'s data inputs, data outputs, and logic control signals. The data input (DI) and data output (Y) boards have been designed to have the same pin arrangement, so that the data can be transferred from one board to the other with ease.
