Common Mode Chokes are electrical components which are used to limit the flow of alternating current between two positive and two negative terminals. They are highly effective in providing noise suppression for high-density applications where a significant amount of electromagnetic interference (EMI) is present. The SRF 2012-221YA is a common mode choke designed for this purpose.
The SRF 2012-221YA common mode choke has a dipped ferrite core with the rated inductance of 22 μH ±20%. Two copper wires are wrapped around the core and connected to the two terminals. This type of choke limits the high frequency current more effectively than other inductors due to its higher frequency response. The SRF 2012-221YA is available in two versions with 150mA and 250mA rated current. The SRF 2012-221YA must be connected to an appropriate ground in order to operate optimally.
The SRF 2012-221YA is mainly used as a noise suppression component in switching power supplies, voltage regulators, AC-DC and DC-DC converters, and other AC/DC applications. Its primary function is to reduce high-frequency interference caused by switching activities in power electronic components. The SRF2012-221YA is designed with a high magnetic shielding efficiency which allows it to work in a wide operating temperature range of -40°C to 105°C.
