Gas discharge tube (GDT) arresters are an important and integral part of every electrical power system. They are used to protect electrical systems from transient overvoltage, which may be caused by things like direct lightning strikes, switching operations, and power system faults. GDT arresters are also used to protect circuits from EMI-RFI interference, as well as other transients like audio interference and impulse noise.

The ST-0750-BLB-STD is a Gas Discharge Tube Arrester specifically designed for surge protection in power systems rated at 750 volts or less. This arrester is designed to be used in applications such as industrial power systems, telecommunications, and power line protection systems.

The ST-0750-BLB-STD consists of a vacuum-gas filled tube containing zirconium oxide and wheatstone bridge elements all sealed inside a stainless steel housing. The vacuum gas allows the GDT arrester to provide superior protection from short-duration transient overvoltages. The wheatstone bridge elements ensure that the arrester is directional and only allows current to flow in one direction. The zirconium oxide is used to provide the dielectric insulation between the electrodes.

In a power system, GDT arresters are usually connected in parallel to the conductor or cables. During normal operation, the GDT arrester acts as an insulator, blocking the flow of current from the conduit to the conductor. This keeps the current from flowing into the conductor and damaging the equipment. During a transient overvoltage event, such as a lightning strike, the GDT arrester is able to quickly and efficiently arrest the overvoltage and discharge it safely to the earth ground.

The ST-0750-BLB-STD is designed to operate at a maximum continuous operating voltage (MCOV) of 800 volts. This level of protection is sufficient for most power systems. If an overvoltage event should occur, the arrester can arrest it without failing. The arrester has a very fast response time, typically able to discharge the overvoltage within 50 micro-seconds. This prevents the overvoltage from reaching the equipment connected to the power system.

The ST-0750-BLB-STD is also designed to be used in applications that require a high level of protection. The arrester can handle up to 10 kA (10,000 Amps) of instantaneous surge current for short durations, making it ideal for high-power applications and critical power systems.

The ST-0750-BLB-STD is also designed to function in the most extreme environmental conditions. It is rated for temperatures ranging from -40°C to +85°C. It is also rated for an altitude up to 30,000 ft without any performance degradation. This arrester is also designed to be used in hazardous applications with flame-retardant epoxy plating.

The ST-0750-BLB-STD is also designed to meet the stringent safety standards of UL and CSA. The arrester is UL 467-certified and CSA certified, ensuring it meets the most rigorous safety requirements. The arrester is also backed by a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty.

The ST-0750-BLB-STD is an extremely reliable and efficient Gas Discharge Tube Arrester designed to provide superior surge protection to power systems rated at 750 volts or less. It is UL and CSA certified and is designed to operate in the most extreme environmental conditions. The arrester is also backed by a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty.
