Working Principle

For each channel, the ST3232EBN has two differential inputs (A and B) and two differential outputs (A and B). The input stage features an integrated Schmitt trigger circuit that allows for hysteresis and reduced noise sensitivity.

It utilises two control pins and signals; RTS (Request To Send) and CTS (Clear To Send). RTS is an output from the receiver that indicates a request from the receiver to the transmitter to send data. CTS is an output from the transmitter that indicates that the transmitter is ready to receive data.

The ST3232EBN also has a power-down feature, which reduces the power consumption when the readers are inactive. This feature is also advantageous when temperature range is critical. When the power-down pin is set to high, the receiver and transmitter are disabled.
