It is a non-synchronous boost converter type Controller with high accuracy current mode PWM control and integrated low RDS (on) MOSFET. The switching frequency of ST662ABD-TRY is 200Khz and the output voltage range is adjustable from 4.5V to 24V with a peak current limit over 27A.

Working Principle of ST662ABD-TRY

ST662ABD-TRY is a non-synchronous boost converter type controller. It works by converting an input voltage to the desired or the required output voltage level according to the settings done in the related registers in the IC. The ST662ABD-TRY uses a series of MOSFET, which turns on/off periodically to regulate the output voltage.When the input voltage is applied and the input is un-dutied, ST662ABD-TRY starts to operate and the power MOSFET is switched ON. The primary current Ip charges the inductor and the output Filter Capacitor COUT. A fraction of the output voltage is compared to the Error amplifier output voltage. Depending on the voltage error between the reference voltage and the feedback voltage, the error amplifier output increases or decreases the duty cycle of the PWM signal and drives the MOSFET accordingly. This results in a regulated output voltage.The IC has current mode drive with cycle to cycle current limitation and failure mode protection features built in for safety and reliable performance.
