Application Field

The STGIPL14K60 from STMicroelectronics is a high-Power Integrated Gate driver IC designed for Increased flexibility and enhanced performance in a wide variety applications. This power IC is able to support a wide input voltage range (5V to 40V) with the highest noise immunity and faster switching speed. It is an ideal choice for driving stepper motor, DC motors, and non-isolated DC/DC converters. It is also suitable for LED applications such as Industrial lighting and Automotive lighting. The product offers a higher compatibility with IGBT and SiC (Silicon Carbide) transistor thanks to an advanced protection circuitry. Working Principle

The STGIPL14K60 power IC is composed of two main blocks: a high-speed CIV (Current Injection Voltage) stage and an adaptive circuit called Circuit Emulation Protection (CEP). The CEP circuit provides robust protection with a very high current injection threshold of 0.9V (60A). The STGIPL14K60 is also compatible with low-resistance stray field protection. It is capable of detecting even low-resistive Re-of stray field by monitoring the current flow. In addition, the device is equipped with an Internal Overcurrent Protection (IOP) that supports a maximum current of 6A.The basic operating principle of the STGIPL14K60 power IC involves the inputting of a logic signal of either 3.3V or 5V. In response, the power IC will latch the signal and drive the logic output of the integrated circuit either high or low~depending on the input signal. The device is designed to be fully compatible with both unipolar and bipolar gate driver inputs, and supports a wide gate voltage range. The STGIPL14K60 also incorporates a high-voltage clamping circuit to protect the gate of the transistor from any sudden rise in voltage.
