The STK672-311-E is a Brushless DC Motor driver integrated circuit (IC) manufactured by Sanken Electric Co., Ltd that is designed to drive and control a BLDC motor with ease. The STK672-311-E is further designed to control the rotation of a BLDC motor, along with its speed and direction of rotation, when driven by a DC voltage.

The STK672-311-E integrated circuit is a monolithic IC consisting of two individual motor drivers, each with a built-in full-bridge driver circuit. It is comprised of a large number of transistors, connected in a specific manner, that operates as the driving motor and producing the high output current required for a motor. Additionally, this IC has integrated control logic, allowing for it to control the speed and direction of the motor under the control of a few external components.

In order to achieve the desired high output current, the IC features an integrated high-side and low-side MOSFET driver circuit that is designed to amplify the low level signals of the control logic circuit and translate them into high current switching signals. This is done through the use of a pair of power MOSFETs, one on the high side and one on the low side. When correctly wired, these MOSFETs are capable of switching large currents with extremely low on-state resistances. This allows the IC to efficiently drive the motor with the low voltage and high current signals required.

The STK672-311-E makes use of a number of external components in order to properly drive the motor. These include a speed control potentiometer, an enable pin, and an under-voltage lockout pin which is used for protection. The speed control potentiometer is used to control the direction and speed of the motor by setting the control voltage on the IC. The enable pin is used for activating and deactivating the motor and the under-voltage lockout pin is used to detect if the voltage supplied to the motor is too low and prevents the motor from operating if the voltage is too low.
