STPCH17MBBU is a semiconductor device developed by the American semiconductor company STMicroelectronics. The acronym stands for ‘STPCH17MBBU integrated transceiver’. This device is a highly integrated solution that provides a low-cost and low-power solution for the application of transceiving data over a variety of communication protocols. In particular, it supports the latest Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) applications and is especially suited for automotive and industrial applications.Applications for the STPCH17MBBU are ever increasing and range from automotive communication systems and industrial robotics to consumer electronics and smartphone device connectivity. One of the main applications of the device is for communication between Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and short-range radio frequency devices. Other than communicating over BLE, the STPCH17MBBU is also capable of communicating over the industrial, scientific and medical (ISM) band and global system for mobile communications (GSM).The working principle of the STPCH17MBBU consists of three main parts. Firstly, there is a directional operational amplifier or OA at RF, which helps to provide an enhanced signal in communications processes. This is followed by an RF transceiver that enables the device to transceive data as well as to monitor the surrounding environment. Finally, the device integrates a microcontroller unit, which is responsible for the control and data processing of the entire device.In terms of its external connections, the STPCH17MBBU consists of four signal ports. There is the input radio antenna port that allows for reception and transmission inputs, followed by the ESD port which that helps reduce noise from electrostatic discharge.
