The SY100S838LZC effectively meets the requirements of the today\'s clock/timing related applications, including Networking, Computer, Consumer, and Industrial segments.The main features of the SY100S838LZC include:• Dual Modulus Frequency Synthesis• Programmable Output Frequency of 2.5–160.0MHz• Multiple Output Configurations: LVPECL, LVDS, HCSL, LVCMOS, CML• Spread Spectrum Options:• Programmable Spread Spectrum Frequency; -3.25 dB (typical) @ 3GHz nominal at -3dB downspan• -3.25 dB (typical) random jitter @ 3GHz nominal at -3dB downspan• Low Power Consumption: <1.1 W• High Stability, Low Skew Output: 300ps RMS typical• Programmable Duty Cycle, Range 45–55%• Single-Ended or Differential Outputs• PLL Lock Detect Pin• Separate Output Enable/Disable Pins• Reference oscillator synthesizerThe SY100S838LZC integrates a low-noise fractional-N PLL, a dynamic modivating fractional-N/integer-N frequency synthesizer, two high-drive output drivers, and a selectable spread spectrum generator. It has a programmable reference clock input, selectable spread spectrum enable/disable, reference enable/disable, fast output enable/disable, clock enable/disable and lock detect functions.The frequency synthesizer of the SY100S838LZC uses a dual-modulus frequency mixing technique to generate the desired output frequencies. It uses a reference frequency signal as a reference for the output frequency and it can be set up for integer or fractional frequency synthesis. The programmable reference frequency is converted into a signal that can be used by the dual-modulus frequency synthesizer.The dual-modulus frequency synthesis technique is based on a divide-by-N/divide-by-M digital counter configuration. The frequency synthesizer uses two dividers, a programmable one and a fixed one to divide the input reference signal (either integer or fractional) and generate the desired output frequencies. The output frequency is the ratio of the input reference frequency divided by the product of the programmable and fixed dividers. The dividers are controlled by the device’s digital control registers.The spread spectrum generator is also an integral part of the SY100S838LZC. This spread spectrum generator is designed to reduce EMI radiation by generating a spread spectrum output signal. The spread spectrum generator also reduces jitter due to the randomization of the output signal.The SY100S838LZC also includes two high drive output drivers for driving LVDS, HCSL, LVCMOS, LVPECL or CML chains, depending on the application. Output enable/disable functions, fast power-down feature, programmable duty cycle and reference enable/disable functions are also available.The SY100S838LZC is an essential solution for a variety of applications, including Networking, Computer, Consumer, and Industrial segments.
