Thyristors – TRIACs are bidirectional switches that can control electrical current in both directions. The T1205-600G-TR is a 600 V, 6 A TRIAC, designed for general purpose AC switching applications. It is designed to meet safety standards and is certified to the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 60747-5-5. T1205-600G-TR is a rugged, compact and highly reliable thyristor.
The main feature of a TRIAC is that it can pass current in both directions and also has two gate terminals. This leads to the breakdown of the internal junction and, thus, allows current to flow through the device. This state is known as the “turn-on” state and is sustained until the gate voltage is removed, at which point the TRIAC turns off.
