Thyristors, also known as Silicon Controlled Rectifiers (SCRs), are solid-state electronic switches that can be used to control high-power electronic loads. The T2050H-6G TRIAC is a high-power three-terminal device that can be used in various applications such as home appliance, industrial HVAC and lighting control. Its off-state dV/dt, dI/dt withstand capability and Avalanche di/dt capability are specially designed to withstand large impact current and surge current which is caused by short-circuit. The working principle of a TRIAC is based on the thyristor principle, where the current ‘feeds-back’ from the Anode 2 to the Gate 2 when the region between Anode 1 and Anode 2 has crossed the Gate voltage threshold. This results in an increased current from the Anode 2 to the Gate 2 region, which in turn, cause the Gate current to be pushed faster and into a higher level. This increase in Gate current helps the Gate voltage to rise faster, ultimately triggering a positive current flow through the Gate 2 and the Anode 1 region. This effect continues to rapidly switch the TRIAC on, thus providing two directions of current control.
