T491X337K006ZT is a series of tantalum capacitor products, with a standed voltage of 6V, impedance of 10.2 Ohm, capacitance goes from 4.7μF to 10μF, and the size ranges from 4.7×5.8mm to 10.2×12.5mm. It also has a very low temperature coefficient, which make it possible to work stably in thermal conditions with wide changes.

Application field

T491X337K006ZT is often used in compact low profile applications, such as digital cameras, digital music players, printers, and game consoles. Having a high capacitance in such a small size, their use in portable applications is very cumpulsary. With a maximum operating temperature range of -55°C to +125°C and a low equivalent series resistance, it is possible to maintain a very low impedance within very wide temperature ranges.

Working principle

T491X337K006ZT uses a solid manganese oxide (MnO2) as the electrode, which is an excellent conductor of electric current, and a specially processed tantalum powder as the dielectric. Tantalum has the ability to generate a large number of mobile, negative charges without breaking down. The amount of charge is determined by the capacitor’s capacitance.

When a voltage is applied to the terminals, the current of charges flows through the capacitor plates, creating a charge-separated electric field between the plates. Then, the electric field creates a charge opposite to the one inside the capacitor, with this difference of charge maintaining equilibrium between the two electric fields. The result is that the capacitor gathers and stores the energy, and is able to release this energy when needed.
