T491X477M006AT Working Principle

T491X477M006AT use tantalum material to build the capacitor core, the combination of tantalum and electrolyte form the dielectric, therefore it is called tantalum capacitor. When power is applied at the two terminals of the capacitor, the device acts like a small "battery" and then, electricity starts to flow through the capacitor. Conversely, when the power is removed, the capacitor acts like a resistor and all of the electricity that was present within the capacitor will then be discharged.

The tantalum capacitor consists of two pieces of anode and cathode. In between them is the dielectric layer of electrically insulating material, made from the hair of a tantalum pentoxide which is formed by an electrolyte or chemical process. The structure then is inserted into the outer casing, which is all specially designed to hold the device firmly, ensure a constant and leak-free environment and prevent any physical damage which could cause short-circuit.

When a voltage is applied, electrons flow from the negative terminal (the anode) through the dielectric in order to reach the positive terminal (the cathode). The incoming electric fields increase the dielectric strength, thus resulting in the electric current being saved in the capacitor as electric charge. This stored charge can then be released as an electrical flow when needed, making the capacitor an ideal and sometimes necessary component for many applications.
