Tantalum-polymer capacitors are constructed from layers of high-density PTFE film sandwiched between layers of solid electrolyte and a pair of either finished or printed electrode surfaces. The electrolyte is a solid form of potentially conducting polymers, commonly polypyrrole and polyaniline, which are connected to the electrodes, providing a route for charge transfer.
