Tantalum Capacitors

Tantalum capacitors areelectrolytic capacitors in which the anode is made of tantalumtucked in with powder form dielectric and covered with a protective film. This type of capacitor is especially useful in low voltage and pulsed operation. It is also used in space-limited and tightly sealed environment. Tantalum capacitors consist of two electrodes sandwiched by a dielectric material which acts as a separator. The most common Tantalum capacitors are based on manganese dioxide which is used in combination with tantalum metal.

TheT95R686M025EZSS tantalum capacitors are mainly used for dc-dc converters and power supplies. These tantalum capacitors have a constructed dry and non-polarized capacitance. In particular, they offer a volumetric efficiency of 80%, a very low leakage current, and very low dissipation factor. Additionally, these capacitors are provided with an internal over-pressure safety element in order to reduce risk during any combustion due to an over-pressure in the case of a harsh environmental conditions. T95R686M025EZSS tantalum capacitors consists of two concentric electrodes, with one terminal positioned in the middle of the other. The sealed tantalum capacitor consists of a tantalum powder electrode on the inside and a manganese dioxide electrode on the outside. The tantalum and manganese dioxide electrodes form a solid dielectric layer between them, which it is responsible for its high volumetric efficiency and low leakage current. The internal over-pressure safety element prevents any pressure increase from the electrode due to overcharge or overloading thus, reducing the risk in hostile environmental conditions. Theses tantalum capacitors work in three different configurations: single layer, multi-layer, and stacked. In the single layer capacitor, the powder tantalum is sintered or formed into a pellet and then mounted in a standard two-terminal capacitor. In the multi-layer capacitors, a thin layer of tantalum powder is electrochemically formed onto a solid tantalum pellet. This forms an effective dielectric layer between the electrodes. The last configuration is the stacked tantalum capacitors, which consists of layers of tantalum powder, separated by thin films of dielectric material, such as manganese dioxide. The stacked configuration of capacitor offers the greatest area-efficiency and performance of all three technologies. T95R686M025EZSS tantalum capacitors are able to provide excellent performance thanks to their high volumetric efficiency, low dissipation factor, and low leakage current. These capacitors are robust and reliable in hostile environment without the risk of over pressure thanks to its internal safety element. They provide high-end performance for dc-dc converters and power supplies and are now available in a variety of compact form factors.
