Working Principle

Working principle of TAP227M016CRW tantalum capacitor is mainly based on the characteristics of an oxide film. The oxide film is formed on the surface of the tatalum metal powder by the instant anodic oxidation process. The oxide film functions as the dielectric of the capacitor. The positive electrode(+) is connected to the metal; the negative electrode(-) is connected to the top of the capacitor and is connected to the electrolyte. Oersteds are generated under reverse voltage, which is defined as electrical polarization, and an electric field is generated between two metal layers. The electrons of the two layers will move from one metal layer to another metal layer, which is called electrical conduction. The metal particles produces an electric field to the electrolyte, which is called the electric double layer effect.

Meanwhile, electricity flows through the tantalum metal by the electric double layer effect and anodizing effect. And the energy stored within it is greater than the energy stored in electrostatic fields, so the TAP227M016CRW capacitor can be charged and discharged rapidly, which largely improves the circuit operation efficiency.
