The TC1303C-PA0EMFTR is a multi-functional, adjustable and highly integrated linear and switching voltage regulator. It features an adjustable output voltage range of 2.5V to 8V and sink and source current of up to 8A. It has an integrated low drop out (LDO) P-channel MOSFET for regulating load current, as well as an integrated high correction P-FET for control of voltage and current.The device includes comprehensive temperature protection and adaptive current-limited protection, monitoring and controlling the output voltage within accurate parameters.The application fields of TC1303C-PA0EMFTR include automotive electronics, LCD/LED displays, battery charging, industrial automation and control, telecommunications, and power supplies.

Working Principle

The TC1303C-PA0EMFTR utilizes the constant on-time control technique to regulate the output voltage and load current over a wide range of input and output voltages. This topology has low drop out (LDO) operation with low output voltage ripple, fast response time, and highest efficiency and power density.The TC1303C-PA0EMFTR includes an integrated P-channel MOSFET that serves as the low drop out (LDO) regulator. The LDO regulates the output voltage by controlling the on/off times of the P-MOSFET, based on the voltage difference between the input and the output pins. When the output voltage is higher than the reference voltage, the current to the load is reduced. When it is lower than the reference voltage, the current is increased.The device also includes a high-performance P-channel MOSFET for the linear regulator, which uses a low-side switching architecture. The device’s linear current-limited (CL) function allows it to monitor and control the output current within accurate parameters. The switching frequency is adjustable to optimize the efficiency, power density, and output noise performance.The TC1303C-PA0EMFTR provides both thermal protection and adaptive current-limited (CL) protection to further enhance the system’s reliability and protection under extreme conditions. The thermal protection monitors the junction temperature of the device and adjusts the power limiting cycles to prevent over-temperature conditions. The adaptive CL protects the device from short circuits, slow-startup, and over-load conditions.
