Working Principle of TCM1005-350-2P-T

TCM1005-350-2P-T common mode chokes consists of two windings on a ferrite core, which are surrounded by a shield. The alternating current (AC) in the winding opposes the common mode interference, generating an inductive counter-current. This counter-current is 180° out-of-phase with the input current, which offsets the interference. The differential mode current can pass through without any interference while the common mode interference is reduced. The more windings, the higher the frequency range covered by the choke.

When the common mode voltage is applied across the two windings, an inductive counter EMF is induced in one winding, which is out of phase with the common mode voltage. The magnitude of the counter EMF is proportional to the amount of current flowing through the windings, which is 180° out-of-phase with the common mode voltage. Since the counter EMF opposes the common mode voltage, the common mode interference is attenuated.

Common mode chokes are designed to filter out common mode interference, while allowing the high frequency differential mode signals to pass through without attenuation. Common mode chokes filter out high frequency noise present on the power and signal lines and reduce the influence of external circuit noise on the system. These devices can also be used to reduce EMI radiation generated by power and signal lines, as they reduce the common mode current flowing through the system.
